Historic Manor & Rooms

The Macdonald Alveston Manor Hotel & Spa is a timber-framed Tudor building set in extensive grounds that include an ancient cedar tree. The hotel offers pet-friendly accommodations in select room types, with many rooms retaining original period features. All rooms include a work desk, flat-screen TV, and a modern bathroom with tea and coffee facilities.

Spa & Wellness

The on-site spa offers ELEMIS treatments and includes an indoor swimming pool, sauna, steam room, and fitness centre with Life Fitness equipment. Guests can book body treatments, facials, massages, and manicures, with access to spa facilities such as a relaxation area and spa lounge. The spa also provides fitness classes, a personal trainer, and a solarium.

Dining

The award-winning Manor Restaurant serves a creative menu using fresh local produce, with specialty dishes and afternoon tea offered in the Blue Lounge. The Manor Bar stocks quality whiskies and fine wines, and the hotel also provides a coffee house on site, snack bar, and room service. Breakfast can be taken in the room, and special diet menus are available upon request.

Location & Attractions

The hotel is a 5-minute walk from Stratford-upon-Avon town centre and the Royal Shakespeare Company, with Shakespeare's Birthplace and Anne Hathaway's Cottage nearby. Stratford Butterfly Farm is a short walk away, and the River Avon is 400 metres from the hotel. Historical Warwick is a 20-minute drive, and the hotel offers easy access to the market town's shops and theatres.

Business & Events

The hotel provides extensive meeting and banqueting facilities that accommodate up to 160 delegates, along with a business centre and fax/photocopying services. Express check-in/check-out, private check-in/check-out, and luggage storage are available for business travellers. The property has invested in modern meeting facilities, as well as improved bar, lounge, and public areas.

“The Tudor architecture stands out, but some maintenance seems overdue. Spa treatments and the restaurant receive praise, though inconsistencies raise concerns. With its history and prime location near the Royal Shakespeare Company, a focused refresh could easily elevate the experience.”

manicured garden buffet selection dated appearance coffee selection
The gardens surrounding the hotel were well maintained. I appreciated the breakfast buffet that offered a lot of choice.. I enjoyed the served breakfast. The hotel's location was superb with the town center a short walk away.
The room's appearance was dated. The tea and coffee selection provided in the room seemed more suitable for a budget hotel. I found this quite disappointing for the price paid, a £250 one night stay.
